I am thankful

Considering I’ve been so busy running around lately that I even forgot Thanksgiving was coming up until last Saturday, I think it would do me a lot of good to take the time to stop and think about what I have to be grateful for.

Right up at the top of the list, the dearest things to me in this world, are my friends. Those of you who have stood with me, through the good, and especially through the bad. Your support and your love have meant more to me than you could possibly know, and without you this world would be so much harder to bear.

Something else very important to me that I’ve hardly ever taken time to appreciate properly is my parents. They have always provided for me and cared about me, and continue to do so. Life would truly have been impossible without them.

In this time of transition for me, as I learn about who I am and what I am to do for the rest of my life, I am very thankful for the many role models who have taken time to help me figure things out, either by answering any questions of mine, sharing their knowledge and experience with me, or simply living out a great example for me to follow.

In that same vein, I am very thankful for all of those who have ever, or will ever, give me many opportunities to serve and learn. When I look back over the last few years, I am floored by the many people who have put trust in me and my abilities, even when I haven’t.

I am thankful for music, which has become my most important form of expression. Even if there is way too much of it sometimes. Music is such an incredible form of art, and I am blessed to have skill in that area which I can use to serve others, and entertain myself (and make money!).

There is one last big thing I have to be thankful for, and that is life. Not just the air in my lungs, but MY life. Life is hard, and it’s complicated, but it’s also wonderful. As frustrating as it is sometimes, my ability to experience everything, and make decisions, and even make mistakes, is what makes it unique, what makes it mine, and I’m thankful for that.

So, that’s what I’m thankful for, not just today, on Thanksgiving, but every day of my life, even if I don’t always have time to remember it. So what are you thankful for? Let me know in the comments. (Yes, you get bonus points if you say you’re thankful for me.)
